Course5 Discovery Recognized in the 2021 Gartner® Market Guide for Augmented Tools

At Course5, we have jointly worked with our customers for over two decades to help them drive organizational scalability with our innovative products and solutions in the Insights and Analytics space.

We’re honored that Course5 Discovery was recently mentioned as an Augmented Analytics Solution in “The Gartner Market Guide for Augmented Analytics, 2021” which we believe is a testament to our strong capabilities in this space and validation of Discovery as a Solution that can deliver significant business benefits to Clients.

The report, authored by Austin Kronz and David Pidsley covers the Market direction of the Augmented Analytics space as the report states –

Time spent in predefined dashboards will be complemented — and likely displaced to a degree — by automated, conversational and dynamically generated insights that are customized to users’ contexts and delivered to their points of consumption. [1]

The genesis of Discovery as a Product and the journey we have embarked on has been very aligned with the evolution and shifts in the Augmented Analytics market. Discovery was born from our own experience in the analytics and insights space wherein we observed that in many organizations today there is a pretty big gap in the insights ecosystem; there is a lot of data flowing through the system and multiple dashboards being created but the adoption rates are very low. This is because the generated insights are not curated for the specific user, are difficult to access, and in many scenarios lacking the depth that is required for timely decision-making.

Modern business users need contextual, continuous, and connected data and analytics to respond to complex and uncertain business scenarios. Many decision-makers struggle to identify what is most important and what the best actions to take are. The business users of today need to be able to uncover insights across data sources at scale without waiting for data experts to do that job for them. Augmented Analytics Solutions like Discovery does exactly this by providing decision support at scale using AI Technologies such as Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Given there is a greater need for solving this problem in industries where there is constant business data generation, the majority of the clients for whom we have done implementations come from the CPG, Retail, Technology, and Telecom Industries. The four target functions we currently enable via Discovery by providing Insights are ECommerce, Customer Experience, S&M, and Supply Chain.

The insights auto-generated by Discovery are Descriptive (talking about what has happened), Diagnostic (why it happened), Predictive (what is going to happen next), and Prescriptive (what you should do next) in nature. They provide the user a connected view of the current state of the business by understanding the relationships between the KPIs important for a function with other KPIs in that function as well as with KPIs in different functions. This helps users make informed business decisions by keeping the overall organization’s goals and success in perspective. Discovery enables users to consume the generated insights via multiple channels – via a Web UI interface or by integrating with their existing BI ecosystem or through their existing collaboration platforms like Teams and Slack.

Discovery provides a very strong set of capabilities in the Augmented ABI space, especially within the unstructured data space. Discovery provides users a 360-degree view of data that is required for business decision-making by providing insights from both structured and unstructured data sources.

The report also recommends that an ideal solution would possess the below characteristics to enable the decision maker. We believe these have been part of Discovery’s offering from our very first implementation.

  • “Embedded analytics to push personalized content directly to the consumer’s natural workflow
  • NLQ to make it easy to find the right information
  • An analytics catalog to describe available analytics content and to show the usage of that content
  • Automated insights
  • Dynamic storytelling to displace the use of predefined dashboards and manual exploration” [1]

We are delighted that Gartner has recognized Course5 Discovery along with several other industry-leading Augmented Analytics Solutions in this report. We hope that this is just the beginning of the journey for us as Discovery moves towards becoming the leader in the space and continues to demonstrate business impact by providing insights at scale for our clients.
