You tend to have quite a few anxieties as a first-time father apart from all responsibilities that come attached with this blessing.

It is even more important at that time to have a supportive employer, Course5 has been that and much more for my family and me.

Rather than looking at these junctures in its employees’ lives as a policy and rule book only, Course5 provided flexibility and resources that go beyond the book.

Being based in the U.S., far away from immediate family and relatives, the HR team and my manager ensured that I take the necessary time apart from the mandated state and federal guidelines to share the responsibilities of the newborn at home.

In a sales job, your work comes with travel and as the world opened, it became necessary to do so but my manager ensured that it didn’t become an impediment to my role as a father. At many times, covering for me in those situations without my asking for it.

Course5 ensured that even after completing my paternity leave, I can work with my schedule to allow for last-minute doctor appointments or begin later than the usual work hours to cover for those sleepless nights with a newborn.

These may seem very elemental but the physical and mental stability it provides in this beautiful period of our lives has been crucial for me. All the credit goes to my employer, it’s HR team, and my manager.

This year I was blessed with my second child, a baby girl. Becoming a father is a life-changing experience which brings joy, excitement and a sense of new responsibilities. Although the journey of becoming a second-time father is equally remarkable, it comes with its unique set of experiences and challenges. It calls for balancing the needs of both children and ensuring they are acknowledged and nurtured. For this reason, time management became very crucial as I strived to meet the demands of my first child while also attending to the needs of the newborn and the mother.

During the pregnancy period, the ability to work from home allowed me to balance the demands of my professional responsibilities and personal needs. I genuinely think every working population as two families one at home and the other at the office, as we spend maximum time at the office, it is very important that necessary support is extended during a time of need. I have a 3-year-old daughter and she was born around Covid times, because of which she is very used to seeing me around as it was a complete work-from-home scenario then.

I joined Course5 around 8 months back and was taking in new and bigger responsibilities, while I was excited to put in the time to learn new things and adapt to the new environment, but it was also very important for me to balance time with my family at home, especially my little one. Balancing work and family life can be a challenge, but having a supportive office environment makes all the difference. In my recent days of entering fatherhood, my workplace supported me during my paternity leave, highlighting the positive impact it had on my overall well-being and the bond I formed with my newborn and my wife. From the moment I shared my happy news with my manager, I received warm congratulations from him, he became too supportive of my work, he told me “Hey! This is big news, please take care and just let me know whenever you need leaves” and the projects were smoothly aligned ahead. In events of general hospital visits for scans and alike, remote working helped a lot with flexible working hours. Despite being remote working since joining Course5 (17 months) I developed good terms with Balaji and the support that I have received during a few months will always be memorable for me. We serve Global leading clients and demands used to be dynamic as the new fiscal year was about to start, we had new projects lined up and we started working towards it, just two days before the project delivery, the time had come, and we rushed to the hospital (never thought this would happen so sudden). I shared the news with my manager, and he instantly approved my paternity leave and assured me the work will be taken care of and not to worry about it.

The type of work that we were doing then, we were a very small team and the absence of one team member would worry every one of us. But all was handled well and smoothly, I got all the time and energy to focus towards the new one. And yes, that project was delivered on time. Initially, we were too scared of imagining the scenario of being in a new city (Bengaluru), to this day when the baby is now 2.5 months old we do recall the baby’s arrival into our life and express gratitude for the remote work that allowed us to stay close to our parents who on both sides became grandparents for the first time. The joy extended multi-folds as we shared the news further and our grandparents became great-grandparents for the first time. Now when the baby is growing healthy and there are doctor visits or visits for vaccination, I still receive the same support from my manager as it was a few months back. Again, I would like to extend my gratitude towards Course5 for the remote working opportunity that is allowing me to be with my family and the new one. The smooth process for leaves and the blend of amazing people in Course5 have really helped me a lot. The values that we give to our clients were felt by getting back to me when it was most needed.
